Distance Scales

The universe is immense; so vast that it really is not fathomable on human scales. I posted previously the classic powers of ten movie here (with an awesome remixed soundtrack so it is worth a look even if you have seen it before). The always relevant webcomic XKCD tried humor to fathom the huge distance scales here. Scientists usually use a logarithmic scale to display information over such wildly varying ranges, but even then the universe is big long.
